Orlando (1992), The gender ambiguous title character is played with sensitive quietude by Tilda Swinton. The story starts amid the rule of the maturing Queen Elizabeth I (Quentin Crisp, in a whimsical turn, reviewing his The Naked Civil Servant). Ruler Elizabeth likes the appealing youthful Orlando and searches out his sexual favours. Consequently, Elizabeth gifts him a vast domain, summoning him, “Don’t blur, don’t shrink, don’t develop old.”
